Jade, pink, and mint green dress status: completed!

I need to start naming my dresses. Jade, mint green, and pink is too much of a mouthful. I think I shall name this one "Princess Jade" since I think it looks like a princess dress.

On to the part you're really looking for, pictures of the completed dress!

  1. HI
Im in the process of making a ballroom dress. Would you be able to tell me how you attached the skirt to the bodice. I want to make points/triangles at the bottom of the bodice....just unsure how the best way is to make the skirt and attach.
    thanks

  2. They are gores inserted into a pointed setting and then stitched together below the points. This tutorial: http://cottesimple.com/tutorials/gore-in-slit-fabric/ has some tips on inserting gores into slits in fabric. The most important thing to remember is to angle your seam allowance for the 1/2" or so into the point down to almost nothing. This is much easier to do if you first hand baste into place. I would baste all of the points in before connecting the individual gores together into one full skirt so that it will line up properly. Good luck!
